Following Traditions

Many today cling to the traditions handed down by their denominations, seldom questioning the doctrines they have received.

Like those whom Yeshua rebuked, they “honor [Him] with their lips, but their heart is far from [Him]; in vain do they worship [Him], teaching as doctrines the commandments of men” (Mark 7:6–7).

Their loyalty lies not in the voice of the Shepherd but in the voice of institutions and inherited customs. The apostle Paul warned of such deception, urging believers to beware “lest anyone spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Messiah” (Colossians 2:8).

True disciples are called to “test all things; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21), measuring every teaching against the revealed Word.

But many, content with what they’ve been taught, follow the path of least resistance—faithful to their denomination, yet estranged from the fullness of truth in the Way of the Messiah.
