"ALL I HAVE COMES FROM GOD!!!"

"ALL I HAVE COMES FROM GOD!!!"

Have you ever heard someone make this comment? Maybe during a giving meditation? Usually it's followed with a big "Amen!" from the crowd. But, is it true that what you have actually comes from God?

1.Claiming It's from God—But Living Like It’s from Self

The False Claim: “God gave me the ability, so everything I earn is from Him”

This statement is half-true—and therefore wholly dangerous. Many claim that their material possessions, career success, or financial status are “blessings from God,” but never surrender those very things back to Him.

Deuteronomy 8:17-18

“And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth...”

God does give the power to get wealth—but this warning was given to prevent pride. It’s a reminder to stay humble and use what God gave for His glory, not self-glory or comfort.

2. The Truth: They Have Not Surrendered to Christ

Salvation Is Total Surrender—Not a Partnership Deal

A person who says, “I give credit to God,” but keeps living for self, pursuing worldly careers, comforts, and security, has not given up their life for the Messiah.

Luke 14:33

“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.”

The call is radical. It’s not about sprinkling God on your goals. It’s about laying down your life—your dreams, money, talents, job—for the kingdom.

Romans 12:1

“I beseech you therefore... that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

If someone claims to be Christ’s but still directs their own life, spends their money how they want, works where they want, and gives God the leftovers, they are deceived.

3. Their Work Serves the World—Not the Kingdom

Talents Were Given for His Glory, Not a Secular Grind

Yes, God gives gifts and abilities. But they are not given so someone can “build a good life.” They are given to serve the Great Commission.

1 Peter 4:10

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards...”

Matthew 25:14-30 (Parable of the Talents)

The faithful servant multiplied what he was entrusted for the Master’s benefit, not his own.

If God gave you the ability to organize, to speak, to build, to sing, to plan, to lead—it’s for the Gospel. Not for a 401(k).

4. Why They're Tight-Fisted: It's Still Theirs

Real Surrender Produces Radical Generosity

Most professing believers don’t give like they should—not because they don’t have it, but because they still think it’s theirs.

Acts 2:44-45

“And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.”

2 Corinthians 9:7

“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give... for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

The early believers lived open-handedly. Why? Because they saw everything they had as belonging to the King. Today’s tight fists prove the heart is still lord over what they have.

5. Illustration: A Man Building His Own House on God's Land

Imagine a man building a house on land he doesn’t own. He uses materials gifted to him. But then he locks the door and refuses to let the true landowner in—or let others take shelter.

He claims, “I thank God for the land and lumber!” But he won’t give the keys to God or use the house for His purposes.

That’s how many live: God gives them breath, skill, opportunity, and wealth—but they use it for comfort, status, or security, and give Him lip service.

6. Biblical Examples of Deception by Self-Sufficiency

Ananias and Sapphira – Acts 5:1-11

They wanted the reputation of generosity without full surrender. They held back. They died for lying—not just to men, but to God.

The Rich Fool – Luke 12:16-21

“I will build bigger barns...” but God said, “Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee.”

He made plans for wealth, not worship. He forgot the eternal.

7. Contrast: Paul the Apostle

Paul could have used his Roman citizenship, his intellect, his Pharisee status for success. Instead, he said:

Philippians 3:7-8

“But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ... I count all things but loss... that I may win Christ.”

Paul used his gifts for the kingdom—not business, not comfort, not applause.

8. Warning: Many Will Be Rejected

Matthew 7:21-23

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter... Many will say... Have we not... done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you.”

Lip service to God doesn’t mean your life belongs to Him. It must show.

9. The Remedy: Radical Repentance and Reprioritization

A. Repent of selfishness disguised as blessing.

B. Re-evaluate your talents, job, time, and money. Are they being used for the King?

C. Recommit to being a living sacrifice.

10. Final Thought

You don’t “give God 10%.”

You don’t “give Him Sunday.”

You don’t “thank Him for your success.”

You give Him your life.

Everything else flows from that.

Colossians 3:17

“And whatsoever ye do... do all in the name of the Lord Jesus...”

If it can’t be done in His name and for His kingdom, it’s not obedience—it’s self-rule with Christian seasoning.
