CELEBRITY PREACHERS

CELEBRITY PREACHERS

Today’s pulpits are filled, not with prophets, but with performers. And the people love it.

We now have:

The comedian preacher – always cracking jokes.

The cowboy preacher – hat, boots, and “down-home wisdom.”

The biker preacher – leather vest, cross patch, and Harley stories.

The hipster preacher – skinny jeans, cool glasses, TikTok quotes.

The scholar preacher – buried in Greek but never confronts sin.

The motivator – every sermon ends in “you got this!”

The storyteller – never opens the Bible, just shares “experiences.”

The therapist – offers coping tips, not cross-bearing truth.

And what does the modern assembly say?

“We love them! Bring them back for the revival!”

“He’s funny. He’s deep. He’s cool. He’s eloquent.”

But where is the man of God?

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.” – 2 Timothy 4:3

When did we start choosing a vibe over a voice, and a brand over boldness?

John the Immerser wouldn’t be invited today. He wore camel’s hair and shouted “Repent!” (Matt. 3:1–2)

Paul said, “I came to you in weakness… not with enticing words” (1 Cor. 2:1–5)

Yeshua was “despised… no beauty that we should desire Him” (Isa. 53:2–3), and many turned away from His hard teachings (John 6:66)

Revival meetings are now talent shows. Camps/retreats are comedy hours. And preachers are judged by how well they perform, not how faithfully they divide the word of truth (2 Tim. 2:15).

“The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and My people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?” – Jeremiah 5:31

We don’t need:

More charisma—we need conviction.

More platforms—we need prophets.

More applause—we need repentance.

Let us rise up again with voices like fire and lips touched by coal (Isaiah 6:6-8), ready to preach the Word, not perform for the crowd!
