Here Come The Pharisees

Here Come The Pharisees

If preaching truth is divisive, then what do you call accusing me of it?

Division isn’t caused by truth spoken—it’s caused by truth resisted.I’d rather be ‘divisive’ for truth than united in silence.

1 Kings 18:17–18

“And it came to pass, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said unto him, Art thou he that troubleth Israel?

And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.”

If you think truth divides, maybe that explains why your sermons never seem to. (Oh yeah, you don't have any sermons...)

Like Spurgeon once said that a woman once said to him...

"I don't like your way of preaching",

he said "your right, I don't much like it sometimes either, but I like my way of doing it better than your way of not doing it".

It's Funny—Paul got accused of causing division too.

Acts 17:6–7 – In Thessalonica, unbelieving Jews accused Paul and Silas of “turning the world upside down” and stirring up trouble against Caesar.

Acts 18:12–13 – In Corinth, Paul was brought before Gallio and accused of persuading people to worship God in ways contrary to the law.

Acts 21:28–31 – In Jerusalem, Paul was accused by Jews from Asia of teaching against the law, the temple, and the people, causing a riot.

Acts 24:5 – Before Felix, Paul was called “a pestilent fellow, a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.”

I guess I’m in good company, while you’re in… quiet company.

Division only bothers those who prefer comfort over conviction. If unity means keeping silent about sin, then congratulations—you’ve mastered crowd-pleasing, not gospel-preaching.

I’d rather split people with truth than unite them with error. What’s your preference? If calling sin what it is causes division, then maybe you’re more concerned with being liked by men than approved by God (Galatians 1:10).

Couth says ‘please’ while the world burns. Some folks are so couth, they’d apologize to Baal for interrupting his idol time.

Couth whispers in the parlor; prophets cry in the wilderness.

Sounds like I've upset the Pharisees (church goers)

Matthew 15:12–14

“Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
