Liberal/Conservative Christians
A liberal Christian in this sense may say, “Yes, I believe the Bible is true, but I don’t want to push it on anyone, I don’t want to make waves, and I don’t want to offend.” They want peace at the cost of silence. They prefer being seen as nice over being known as faithful.
A conservative Christian will say, “Truth must be spoken even when it cuts, because sin is real, judgment is certain, and repentance is necessary.”
Scripture warns against the kind of “peace at all costs” mentality:
Jeremiah 6:14 — “They have healed the wound of my people lightly, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace.”
Ezekiel 3:18 — “If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning… his blood I will require at your hand.”
Galatians 1:10 — “For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? … If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Liberalism in the church often redefines love as “never offending anyone.” But biblical love means telling the truth even when it hurts, because silence lets sin thrive and souls perish.
So in contrast:
Liberal Christians: Believe truth, but keep it quiet for the sake of harmony.
Conservative Christians: Speak truth boldly, even when it divides, because eternal souls are at stake.
