"The Mockery of God and the Call to Action"
"The Mockery of God and the Call to Action"
Opening Scripture:
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”
— 2 Timothy 3:1–5
“In the last days, scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires.” – 2 Peter 3:3 (NLT)
1. We have arrived
Beloved, we live in these dangerous days the apostles paul and peter warned us about
This sounds like the description of half the people in the U.S
Recently, a tragic shooting occurred in Minneapolis.
A young man, confused about his identity,
Whose mother allowed him as a child to change his identity
Had become sad and depressed and hateful and
ended the lives of two innocent people and then took his own.
This tragedy did not happen in a vacuum.
Mass Shootings Per Capita Rates
Trans Americans: 0.6-0.11 per 100,000 people
Black Americans: 0.09 per 100,000 people
Native Americans: 0.09 per 100,000 people
Asians: 0.06 per 100,000 people
White Americans: 0.05 per 100,000 people
Latinos: 0.03 per 100,000 people
this is the fruit of a generation that mocks God’s design.
Who has been mocking God design since the 1960s
Wether it has been marriage, sanctity of life, gender roles, immorality
And again this sin the fruit
These are the sanme people who are responsible for every single assaination of a president
And attempted assainations
99.9 of all mass shootings
99% of all crime, drug activity, riots
The same people who make up most of the atheist who mock God and Christians
They are a people who just as paul and peter explained
Murders-abortion, shootings, assanations and now what they call death with dignity
But what we call euthanasia
We are told in society today:
“Love is love.”
“Let children decide their gender.”
They encourage rebellion against God’s creation,
and lead to confusion, despair, and lawlessness.
Even public officials mock prayer.
Jen Psaki said:
“Prayer is not freaking enough.
Prayers do not end school shootings.
Prayers do not make parents feel safe.
Prayers do not bring these kids back.
Enough with the thoughts and prayers.”
Such words show a rejection of God’s power.
They reveal a scoffing spirit, just as Peter warned:
“Scoffers will come, following their own sinful desires.” – 2 Peter 3:3
Beloved, prayer is powerful.
And make no bones about it
This is not about prayer
Its about mocking god and Christians
The rejection of God, the mockery of prayer,
and the encouragement of rebellion against His design
create tragedy.
This is the reality we face:
a world mocking God,
calling evil good,
and expecting children to live in confusion and despair.
Point 2
Prayer must be coupled with works
One of my pet peeves are Christians who say ill pray for you
But do nothing to help
James taught that empty words are not enough
james 2:15-16
This passage teaches us that while prayer is essential,
it must be coupled with action.
We cannot simply pray for change;
we must be willing to be instruments of that change.
So What is the action?
Some say as Jen Psaki and now trey Gowdy has recently said
The action must be to take away our second amendment rights to bear arms
In Australia they took away guns
Now they have a machete problem
In France they took away guns
Now they use vehicles to run into people
In Chicago new York and san fransico they have the strictest gun laws in the country
Yet have some of the highest crime rates in the country
Yet the states with the most relaxed gun laws have some of the lowest crime rates
The point is it is not a gun problem or machete problem or vehicle problem
It is a sin problem
A rise in sin
A rise in immorality
A rise in ungoldlieness
A decline in godly principles
A decline in belief in God
That is the propblem
And so The action we must take is not political
It is spiritual and moral
We must return to the foundations of faith, family, and morality.
We must address the root causes, not just the symptoms.
3.A call to action
Beloved, the time for complacency has passed.
We cannot sit back indifferent
while our children are lost, our communities are in turmoil,
and our nation turns its back on God.
We must rise up in prayer and action, seeking God’s guidance
and strength to confront the challenges before us.
As a royal priesthood on earth
We must not only preach the faith
But contened for the faith entrusted unto us
let us be faithful servants,
standing firm in our faith, acting justly,
loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts,
burdened by the tragedies that plague our world.
We repent for the times we have mocked You, dismissed prayer,
and failed to act.
Grant us the wisdom and courage to address the root causes of violence and lawlessness.
Help us to be instruments of Your peace, bringing light into the darkness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
