Pep Talk Sundays
Pep Talk Sundays
There is a massive soul destroying fraud being sold from pulpits every single Sunday and it is exactly what most people want to hear. They do not come to church to be confronted with their sin or called to die to themselves. They come for a spiritual pep talk a self help session wrapped in Bible verses that promises they can navigate life successfully without any real problems be forgiven of their sin and keep right on living for themselves.
Christianity the false system tells you this. Come as you are stay as you are just add a little Jesus to make the ride smoother. Hear how to feel better about yourself when things get hard at work. Learn how to remain positive when the bills are backing up and the pressure is mounting. Get reassured over and over how much God loves you and will forgive you even though you have completely encompassed yourself in sin and sat down at the table of demons. They are influencing you pulling you deeper into the world and its ways but do not worry. You do not have to separate yourself from them or cut off the entanglement. Just try not to be influenced too much and rest easy in the forgiveness that covers it all.
And here is the worst part. They completely rip the Bible out of its true context which is discipleship and they twist those scriptures to prop up a life that is completely out of context with the Bible. Therefore those promises and comforts do not apply to them at all. The entire Bible is written to a people who have already given everything up for God and are radically following Him. It offers comfort reassurance and direction to those who have left their old life behind and are now living fully for Christ not to those who continue to live for themselves while sprinkling a little Jesus on top.
Every verse about God being with you in trouble every promise of peace that passes understanding every word of forgiveness and restoration is spoken to the disciple who has counted the cost taken up the cross denied himself and is pressing forward in obedience no matter the cost. It is not written for the person who refuses to separate from the world refuses to repent of their pet sins and still wants to sit at the table of demons while demanding God bless their compromised life. You cannot claim the blessings meant for the surrendered life while you keep your hands firmly on the steering wheel of your own selfish ambitions. Those scriptures simply do not apply to the double minded person who wants the best of both worlds.
What a load of self justifying nonsense.
This is not the Gospel. This is a comfortable lie designed to keep you in your sin while pretending you are growing in Christ. You want sermons that pat you on the back and say keep going just like you are. You want tips on positive thinking and stress management instead of repentance. You want constant reminders of Gods love with zero demand for holiness or separation from the world. You want to stay wrapped up in the very things that are destroying you and still walk out feeling better about yourself. No wonder the church is powerless. No wonder the world mocks us. We have turned the house of God into a therapy session where sin is excused and self is enthroned.
But the real Jesus never preached that garbage.
He said repent or you will all likewise perish. He said if your right eye causes you to sin pluck it out. He said you cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. He said come out from among them and be separate. He said deny yourself take up your cross and follow Me. There is no middle ground. There is no comfortable navigation through life while holding hands with the world. There is no forgiveness without repentance and there is no repentance without turning away from the very sins you love.
True discipleship is not about feeling better in your old life. It is about dying to it completely. The old man does not get a better attitude or a positive mindset. He gets crucified. Everything becomes new or it becomes nothing.
That is why so many churches are packed with people who leave feeling encouraged but unchanged. They got their weekly dose of self esteem and easy grace. They got told God understands and forgives while they keep one foot planted firmly in the devils territory. But they did not get the truth. They did not get the cross.
So here is the question straight and unfiltered.
Are you showing up to church for a spiritual massage that lets you keep living for yourself?
Or are you ready to hear the Word that demands you leave it all behind and follow Christ with everything you have?
Because only one of those paths leads to life. The other is just a comfortable fraud with better lighting and feel good music.
The choice has always been the same.
Keep your life and lose it forever.
Or lose your life for His sake and gain everything.
Choose...
