3. Mistletoe - druids believed it protected them from lightning. If in battle they found themselves under a mistletoe with their enemy they were to stop battle and have a moment of peace.
4. Santa- a mixture of the god Odin and a Catholic named Nicholas.
5. Dec. 25th- the celebration of the sun god Sol.
6. Gifts- during the celebration of the god Saturnalia the Romans would give gifts to each other.
7. Tis the season- the Romans would give gifts to the less fortunate during the celebration of Saturnalia.
8. Eggnog- here we go a wassailing. The word derives from the Anglo-Saxon phrase 'waes hael', which translates to 'good health'.
The wassail drink was originally made from mulled ale, curdled cream, roasted apples, eggs, spices, and sugar, and was served from large silver bowls, may be holding as much as ten gallons.
9. Red and Green-Favorite colors of the Romans. These colors represent fertility. Particularly they used green leaves and red berries.
10. Caroling- the pagans sang songs during the winter solstice.
11. Yule log- pagans would have bon fires to represent the return of the sun after a long cold winter.
12.Twelve days of Christmas- the yule log would be ceremoniously cut down and decorated and then burnt for twelve days.
13. Christmas tree- pagans used decorated evergreen branches in their homes during the festival of Saturn.
14. Reindeer- children would leave carrots for Odin's flying horses.
15. Stockings- children would leave their boots near the fireplace and Odin would fill them with candy.
16. Star on top of the tree- the star in the sky that they looked to on Dec. 25th.
17.Christmas- Christ Mass, a gathering on December 25th by the Catholic Church.
18.Happy Holidays- Holy days
And there are dozens more...
God hates pagan holy days and all that were used during their celebrations. The dates, symbols, seasons, names etc.
He wants their memories erased from the earth.
He told us not to take the pagan rituals and make them about Him.
