Who is at the Center of your Life?

Who Is at the Center of Your Life?

Ask most believers who sits at the center of their life and the answer comes quickly. Christ. But press just a little deeper and cracks begin to show.

When asked how Christ is at the center, the explanations often turn mystical. He is in my heart. Or they become behavioral. I go to church. I read my Bible. I have changed how I live. But look closely. Who is really at the center of that kind of faith?

Self. Man.

Behavioral change benefits you. Church attendance benefits you. Bible reading benefits you. Prayer, peace, answered requests, blessings, and even the hope of heaven are all framed around personal gain. Yes, God is pleased by obedience, but for many, the motivation never moves beyond what it does for me.

This is a faith built around self improvement, emotional comfort, and personal security. It is about feeling better, being better, avoiding hell, and gaining heaven. In other words, it is still all about me.

Christ is not at the center of that faith. Man is.

Very few are actually living for Christ’s benefit. Very few are actively using their lives to advance His reign rather than their own comfort, reputation, or success. Instead of seeking first His kingdom, they are quietly building theirs and attaching His name to it.

Make no mistake. This self centered religion, no matter how moral, sincere, or religious it appears, is false. It is wide. It is popular. And it will not enter in.

The hard question remains. Is Christ truly at the center of your life, or is He simply serving the one who is?
